I had a working Red Hat 5.01 installed on this P 166 / Tyan Tomcat III / 64
megs of EDO / WD EIDE. I am trying to upgrade to 6.0. This is a simple two
partition setup ....1.4 GIG Linux Native and 130 meg Linux swap file. I
decided to upgrade clean and start from scratch so I let Linux format the
two partitions. The install process goes fine...no problems...no warnings.
However I can no longer boot off the hard drive. I can boot off the floppy
and can run Xwindows..and of course off the Install CD but I can no longer
boot off the drive. It can't be a hardware problem because it worked OK in
501 two hours earlier .....and I am not installing anything
unusual....basically a default install. I have tried this twice
now...formatting the partitions each time and starting fresh.
This is what my last screen looks like....just before the boot halts...I
don't understand why it activates 2 processors
Any ideas...Thanks
m
