An eml file is a e-mail message that's associated with Outlook Express. I've
never particularly had much luck opening these attachments by clicking on
them. I would tell your daughter not to use the forward as an attachment
feature when she's forwarding messages to you.

My daughter (has winxp) sends me emails with attachments which I cannot
open. a little box comes with the following
info: "Windows cannot find Microsoft.exe. This program is needed for
opening files of type EML File". I have
win98se. Would appreciate your help. I got your website from the computer
lady.

In my humble opinion, it's not a good idea to open attachments from within
an email, or an email program. If you
can, it's probably better to select the email message (highlite it), then
choose 'File / Save attachments'. Once
the attachment is saved to your hard drive, it's a good idea to virus scan
it, then open it. That should allow the
proper program to open the attachment (i.e. winzip, windows explorer, paint,
etc.) If the attachment is an email it
may still not open after saving it, in which case, you could right click it
and choose 'open with', then scroll to
your email program. That should work unless your email program has corrupted
files ( I don't know if Microsoft.exe
exists in WinXP, but I couldn't find it on my drives - WinME). hth
