Before reinstalling Windows (major pain), I would check your Word
Normal.dot. This file seems to get corrupted pretty easily, luckily it
is easy to get rid of. If you delete Normal.dot, then Word will
recreate one the next time it starts. m Obviously, this is only a good
fix if you use a standard version of Normal.dot. If you have changed
yours to include special formatting, the formatting will no longer be
present if you do this trick. You may want to make a copy of the
Normal.dot (if you have changed it, and once your system is "clean").
Then if you do have to delete Normal.dot, you can copy it into your
template folder, and thereby not lose any special feature of your
template.
