Adaptec has two programs for working with CDR. The Easy CD Creator program
burns the data to the disk while the DirectCD allows the CD to be treated as
an extra 640mb partition. Files or folders are added by dragging to the CDR
drive using Explorer or a similar file manager. Whatever is transferred to
the CD this way CAN be deleted, but the space occupied by them cannot be
used again. This is a very cheap way to add 640mb or more to your HD.

If you are truly referring to a CDR not a CDRW(rewritable), you cannot
delete files or reformat the CDR.  CDR's are a write once format and cannot
be modified in any way once recorded.  CDRW can be modified according to
your CD burner's instructions.
