Have you tried safemode and then change the display settings?
Write down the description of Settings, Advanced, Adaptor Type,
from these windows and switch to VGA, re-boot, and switch back.
Sometimes you just need to shake things up a little.

The password on that Vintage of Windows really only Identified
you to the system and allowed some extra features to work.

> I can open Windows 98 two ways, one with a password , one without. On the one with the password I changed the color setting from
256 colors to 24 bit true colors. Applied and restarted the PC. All I get is a blank screen. How do I get back in there and change
the color setting back? I can open Windows without the password and I can utilize the f10 key.
