A most peculiar problem has surfaced – I can no longer view movies (mpg, wmv
avi, etc) by launching them a link in IE6. I am running XP Pro SP2 (but this
is a problem that surfaced long after I upgraded to SP2, so it doesn’t seem
to be a security setting, for example). When I am in a web site that has a
movie and I click on it, I get sent to the “we can’t find this web page”
white page. No matter what I do the movie will not play.

The problem is not limited to a particular web site but to all sites I have
tried so far. The problem is not in the link, since I can RIGHT-click the
movies and save them to my computer and then play them just fine.

I use Microsoft Media Player 10 as the associated program for all my movies,
and if I Save the targets and launch, they call Media Player just fine, so
it is not Media Player.

If I use Mozilla instead of IE, no problems – movies play – so, again it is
something in the browser, not the links themselves.

I did not consciously do anything to reset the browser to any setting that
precludes me seeing movies.

Any ideas how I can restore this functionality?

Michael
