Computer froze at "Verifying DMI Pool Data...". Went through usual
troubleshooting procedures. Got computer going by reducing display
adapter to standard VGA. It was also necessary to check "Force
Compatibility mode disk access" in Advanced, msconfig. Want to install
correct adapter, but everytime I click Settings on Display, Control
Panel, Win98, computer goes black. (I am in regular, not Safe Mode.)

Computer is very slow starting with all Startup items in msconfig
disabled. 900MB processor, 128MB RAM. I do not know if this is
independent problem.

Scandisk runs even though " Disable Scandisk after bad shutdown" is
checked in Advanced, msconfig.
