Thanks, that solved the problem.  This problem has been on a couple of
bulletin boards without  a solution. The first part was easy.  I have
already convinced myself that it was working.  The second part brought me
right to the ip4 problem.  There was one confusion factor.  The pop command
pop.ipo.edu had been changed by the university to pop.gl.ipo.edu.
