With due respect to Hal Trachtenberg, who has helped me on this list, I
would not be so quick to pinpoint insufficient installed RAM as cause of
problem. I ran Win98 for sometime with 32M RAM before I upgraded to 64M,
and operation with 32M did not "slow performance tremendously". In fact,
comparing operation with 32M and 64M RAM, I would not say having just 32M
RAM slowed performance at all.
I have not noticed any difference in number of page fault errors and
system freeze-ups with 32M and with 64M of RAM. Having at least 64M RAM
may be a good for other reasons, but I would not say having 64M RAM with
Win98 is the cure for cited problems.
This is a hardware issue, but since Hal Trachtenberg offered a hardware
solution to a software problem, I offer my comments, FWIW, to this list.
