Hi Diane,

As alluded to in my previous post, be very careful using a OEM Restore CD that came with the PC.
This is basically a warning to anyone that has a CD like this or a Restore partition.

Check with the manufacturer of the computer what the Restore CD or partition will- or will not do.
Documentation may well be on the computer.
Check how much control you will have over the restore process.

For many of them it's a hands-off process and cannot be stopped once started.

In general it will neither save nor restore any updates to system component driver files
nor Microsoft updates or any programs that were installed after initial OS installation.
In addition it will wipe out any personal data.

So be careful. You may not like the results, although you will have a fresh installation.

Peter E.
