I don't know if this is an answer, but I did find out that there is a
problem with Aol and ME. My daughters new Dell with a free year of aol,
(starving grad student, the only reason for it) would never connect on the
first try to aol and I called Dell. They informed me that it was a bug,
weather it is AOL or ME I didn't find out, but the tech suggested I call
back in a few weeks and there should be a patch. Possibly there are other
issues, as well. Lord, what an understatement.

Susan,
I had those problems and more with AOL. It would take 3 or 4 tries to
get on line, long pauses, and getting kicked offline a lot. I checked
connections and phone line, put in more memory, freed up memory with no
luck. This happened on 2 pc's. Final fix, I went to Cable.
