seems like you got a lot of suggestions for things you've already tried.
 Hope you haven't tried this one.
Look in
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Re
centDocs]
I think this is exactly what is displayed in the "documents" menu, but
the values are binary not strings.

I've often found that the documents menu has less entries than there are
in the documents folder.  Presumably this key lists the shortcuts in the
documents folder that get displayed, and in your case one of the entries
points somewhere else.
