The easy way doesn't require fiddling with the registry.  Open the Start
menu, and go to Programs/StartUp.  Open StartUp, and you SHOULD find icons
for the programs that are loading when you start.  Delete the ones you don't
want to load, and all should be well.  (restart the machine to check)

If that does not work, then there may be a registry problem, and I will
leave it to someone more knowledgeable to guide you.
