         I started the other post.
         Today, the "subject line" got "lost" so
         you may have missed how I made out.
         I had made some personal replies, and somehow
         replies to those got sent back  into the list, changing
         the subject line. Sorry...

         The file and two directories were "locked" by Win95a
          and "invisible" in DOS because of corruption and/or
          the fact the filename was VERY illegal.
          After being told to low level format the drive,
          and HATING that idea, I did a direct edit of the drive
          with a disk editor. (A direct hardware write to the drive
sectors.)
          It was an "end run" around both DOS and Windows.
          It was easy, but you need to be very lucky (me),
          or know what you are doing...

          The biggest thing I learned was, DOS and Windows CAN
          mislead you completely about what is on your hard drive.
