Both FF and Opera are stable and well established and neither has
damaged your computer.
Opera and IE add-ins are not necessarily related to one another.
This sounds much more like the damage done by a Registry Cleaner or
malware.
Since you appear to have multiple problems, a repair install might be
the best solution.

Subject: [PCSOFT] DEFRAG?

When I had trouble installing FIREFOX (I still do ) someone suggested an
alternate web browser named "OPERA" which did a LOT of damage to my
computer. All my add-ons say "enabled" but IE says the opposite,
"disabled". The worst part is a file disappeared from the defragment
process!
"MMC cannot open the file C:\WINDOWS\system32\dfrg.msc "
Will repair work using my XPpro CD?? Do I have to strip my "C" drive &
start over?
Any other suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you in advance, Al
Smith
