Brian,

Depends on what you definition of private is? With the
way Outlook Express is designed with a little bit of
know how you can read any mail that is stored on the
drive if you understand how OE uses stored locations.

However, OE does make use of something called
Identities. You can create and password protect
Identities using FILE - MANAGE IDENTITIES. After
setting them up you can switch to any ID that you need
to at anytime.
