Can someone please shed some light on this spell check happening:

About a year ago I bought a desktop e-machine with XP Home, Microsoft Works, and Outlook Express. Outlook Express has a spell check apparently supported by Microsoft Works.

Several weeks ago, I bought a Toshiba laptop with XP Home, Microsoft Works, and Outlook Express. Outlook Express has the spell check grayed out. When I asked the technician about it, she said I would have to have Word installed on the laptop in order for Outlook Express to have a spell check.

Can someone please tell me why I have a spell check on the e-desktop with Microsoft Works and not on the laptop?

Thank you, Anne Neighbors
