I found the source of this problem. The ps file was corrupt. However, I
still find it strange that the RH install procedure did not update it.
Instead, it created another version of ps named ps;3cbdb75b - any ideas
on this? When I tried to replace the ps file with a good one, I got a
message that said "cannot unlink `/bin/ps': Operation not permitted".
Have not tried it logged in as root locally, only as a remote super
user.
Any explanations of this phenomenon would be appreciated.
Peter

I have another Linux item. Running Red Hat 7.2 - the ps command was
working fine, but it suddenly started reporting an error "/bin/ps: No
such file or directory". If I try forcing execution by ". /bin/ps" I get
"bash: ELF: command not found". Any help would be appreciated. I have
already re-installed RH but without reformatting the disk.
