Subject: reloading windows still having trouble(3)
> My freind is still having trouble reloading windows. Here is a little more
information about the trouble. The system is a Packard Bell 150mhz,48Ram. I
am not sure what version of 95 he has running. But he is trying to reload
without formatting. Should he shut down everything that is running in the
task before trying to reload? When he trys to reload he gets a message that
control panel settings have change since windows was last installed to
restart. So he does gets to the same point and gets the same message. He has
also tried from DOS with no luck. It was suggested that if he had a diamond
video card .To check and see if he had a red and white diamond icon in the
system tray and close or exit . That was'nt the trouble. But I would like to
say thak you to the person that suggested it! Any ideas?
I guessing here, but maybe it would help to use dos safe mode, and remove
any control panel extensions (*.cpl) from C:\windows\system ? Anyone ever
tried that? I don't know if it would help or hurt. It almost sounds like
he's trying to install 95a over 95c, or something like that.
