Thanks Mark - I've never used it to zip before. Mostly I just had it for
those downloads that needed to unzip. I just tried it with one of the
floppies. There were 6 files with originally 816KB and using maximum
compression I got it down to 294KB. Looks like I'd better spend some time
really learning that WinZip utility. Great info. Thanks. Dianne

Winzip is one of the oldest zip programs around, and still one of the best.
It's what I use. Well worth registering, although the only difference is
the beg screen that pops up on the unregistered version. Make sure you are
using the latest version...I think it is 8.0 now.
When you configure it, set it up to use maximum compression.
Put a floppy in the drive. Launch "My Computer". Select the floppy. Right
click...using the context menu select Winzip...add to zip file.
Then just type a name and path. D:\myzipfile.zip, and Winzip will take
care of the rest.
