I am confused about the properties of the WINXP recycle bin. Having used Win 98 for several years quite comfortably, I could always find "deleted" files there by just opening the bin, and the choices were simple - either restore them if desired, or banish them forever. Very straightforward. In WINXP, sometimes "deleted" files are still there, and sometimes not, even immediately after dragging and dropping them into it! They just seem to disappear. Double-clicking the bin, or right-clicking and invoking either "Explore" or "Open", either action reveals only an empty content screen. In addition, I am perplexed as to why and how Norton needs to have *anything* to do with the recycle bin, much less establish itself as the "Protector" of anything in it. I have unchecked "Norton Protection" from within the recycle bin's "Properties" menu, but it still shows as "Norton protected". I have also selected "Standard Recycle Bin" as my choice of the three property options offered. Could someone please enlighten me here on this, or might anyone know of a good tutorial *anywhere* that addresses the Recycle Bin specifically and exactly how it is supposed to work under the several options that WINXP offers? Many TIN!
