i used to have trouble with my lexmark untill i stopped listening to the
lexmark techs. this is what i would do with the little information you're giving.
first i'd reinstall 98se, (don't worry about losing anything, you're not going
to. if anything you'll get things). after you've reinstalled, put your
lexmark cd in, let it come up on the screen and then exit it. then hit start,
settings, printers and click add printer and do what it says. when you get to the
window that asks you if you're going to keep or reinstall driver, you're
reinstalling. then when you get to the manufacturers window click have disk, then hit
the drop down in drives and click D or whatever drive the cd is in. now just
follow what it tells you except for when it wants you to disconnect usb
cables and just start clicking ok like you're doing everything it says, but you're
not. this should install it just fine and eliminate any problems. if this
sounds too difficult, don't mess with it, it's kind of a round about way of doing
it and there's no guarantees except that it works for me. i used to hate my
lexmark untill i started installing this way. ed is right, when the techs can't
figure it out, they just blame it on something else to get you out their hair
and hope they don't get you when you have to call back up again. good luck,
william lilleboe
