A "good firewall" will tell you lots about what is going on for your connections.
I use Outpost, and it tells me:
Reason, Application, Remote Host, Sent Bytes, Received Btyes, BPS, Remote Port,
Direction, Protocol, Local Port, Local Address, Start Time, and Up time.
(This is a lot more than I need <grin>)...

This is in a real time chart I can go and look at, if I want.

Is there a way to check what's being transmitted, or at least who from, when I notice large file downloading/uploading?
I usually get a message that something's been automatically updated (as expected), but I don't like waiting to find out. I often
discontinue unknown up/downloading to be safe.
I could turn off autoupdating, but I'd rather know what's happening.
