Hi list,
System: Win98/cable internet through a Linksys router/one ethernet card,
one modem card.
I had a perfectly functional mozilla (1.1.0) before I fdisked and
reformatted earlier today. I installed Mozilla 1.2.1 and found that my
connection to the internet was almost nil. The default homepage of
http://www.mozilla.org/start/ came up nicely, but from there I couldn't go
anywhere. IE is working fine, and so is Opera 6.05. I uninstalled and
took out the mozilla directory under /windows/application
data/. Reinstalled 1.1 and the same thing is happening. I plugged into
the cable modem directly, released and renewed DHCP numbers in hopes of
isolating the problem that way, but no change.
One thing - in mozilla, if I click the little connection icon the lower
right corner to disconnect then click it again to reconnect, more of a
given requested page loads. It may stop loading before it's done, and
clicking that icon a couple more times allows more loading. And in my
status bar I oftentimes now see a request to 127.0.0.1 among other
addresses? Maybe I hadn't noticed that before. *shrug*
The only other thing that is different that I know about, other than there
is as yet much less stuff installed, is that I have a newer version of
ZoneAlarm (3.5.166).
What can I do?
