OK, I decided to try the import/export operations in IE and OE. Although I
had separate floppies of the address book and favorites I apparently could
have done everything from the old HD. I placed the old HD on the new
machine connected to the secondary IDE port (disconnected new DVD etc.).
The old connectors didn't have keys so some care is needed regarding
orientation. Booted the new machine and sure enough it saw my old
partitioned drive as 2 new HDs. I was then able to transfer all the old
files I wanted and import the old e-mail. I had already imported the
favorites and address book from a floppy but I'm sure it all could have been
done from the HD. When I returned the old HD to it's home, the AV noticed
the boot record had been changed but accepted a reinnoculate command. It
was pretty easy:^)) Only glitch was that OE6 offers menu asking you from
what e-mail program the old messages are coming. The menu only lists OE4
and OE6 but mine were in OE5. With nothing to loose I chose OE6 and the
import proceeded successfully.
