I have a strange problem while doing a spell check in Word 7.0. The spell
checker suggests all capitals for common words like am, are, (AM, ARE) etc.
and every time I have to Ignore All.

Aside from the possibility that you have some kind of weird Word macro virus
(and it wouldn't hurt to check this by doing a virus scan), I was able to
reproduce this problem by adding capitalized versions of common words to the
custom.dic file. I'm talking about Word 97 so this may not be exactly the
same for you.

The custom.dic file contains words you have added to your dictionary, which
you do any time you hit "add" during a spell check. It is simply a text file
with a list of custom words. It's possible that if you ever typed a document
in all caps, and told the spell checker to add those words, it would be
saved, and therefore suggest these capitalized spellings in future. (This is
how I made it happen, anyway.) To edit this file, go to
Tools/Options/Spelling and Grammar tab/dictionaries button/Edit button. This
will open the file, where you can delete any unwanted custom words, then
save the file. You can also simply do a search for custom.dic and edit the
file directly. This is a good way to get rid of words you may no longer want
in your custom dictionary.

Let us know if this helped.
