Hi Eileen,

This problem is caused by a corrupt IconCache file.
You're a bit shy on details though - there are at a minimum 100
Operating Systems and the same for media players.
But let's say you use the most dominant OS on the market, which is XP ,
you can use the following info:

Delete the hidden file ShellIconCache
It will return and rebuild next time you boot-up.

Note: in WinXP each user has their own file that is called Iconcache.db:
C:\Documents and Settings\Your User Name\Local Settings\Application
Data\Iconcache.db

You can also use TweakUI for XP (147 KB ) and install
 http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

Here's what the icon repair section looks like
http://lifehacker.com/photogallery/tweakui/2831698
Use "Rebuild icons".

Peter E.

> All my icons go to media player. I would like to get them back to normal so I can play my games and look up my documents. Can someone tell me what to do to get my default icons back? I even tried system restore but that also goes to media player.
