Hello Robert,
Assuming you downloaded the correct driver for your system (Windows ME or
98), it may be a corrupt download. Try downloading the file again and start
a new installation as follows:
1. While leaving the printer on and ready (paper, ink cartridges installed,
etc.), disconnect the printer from the computer.
2. From Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel, uninstall any trace of
the printer. Restart the computer.
3. Once the computer has completely restarted, disconnect from the Internet
if connected. Then close all open and unnecessary windows and programs,
including security software (anti-virus, firewall, etc.). Then, reconnect
the printer to the computer. IMPORTANT! Click "Cancel" on all "Add New
Hardware" screens that appear after Windows recognizes the printer.
4. Next, double-click on the newly downloaded driver file and follow the
instructions. When the installation is complete, restart the computer once
more.
If this doesn't solve the problem, respond to the list with as much detail
as you can about your system and exactly what happened when you attempted
the install. Include all error messages and at what point in the
installation they appear.
