Smart Update is sometimes not so smart. I'd get the whole download.
Remember, though, that the auto compacting of mail folders is broken in
4.72 and 4.73. It is expected to be fixed in 4.74 which is due out
shortly. To manually compress mail folders, use File|Empty Trash, then
open the Message Center (Ctrl-Shift-1), right click the folders and
select "Compress Folder".
