Subject: Windows ME System Restore

Hello: The following quote is from "help" in Norton Utilities:

"Note: Windows Me System Restore can restore files that have been wiped if
they are one of the protected file types. By default, many document types,
such as .DOC and .XLS files in My Documents are protected. Windows Me System
Restore maintains a copy of protected files. Wiping the original file does
not wipe the copy that Windows Me System Restore maintains."

Can someone please tell me where to view the "protected file types" that are
governed by System Restore in windows ME? The only setting I can find to
control anything about System Restore is how to turn it on and off and how
to regulate the size of my harddrive that it uses. Also, It seems in
Windows 98 that I could set the number of restore copies that would be
maintained by windows ( I think the default was 5), but I cannot find that
either in Win ME. I assume that those are the backups in
C:/restore/archive. I have about 174 cab files there each of about 8mgs.
Why so many -if these are the backups? Thank you, William Patton
