Sorry Brian, but your solution will not work for values of pounds greater
than 9. The solution has already been addressed by me and Russ, but it
depends on how the source value is entered - is it text or is it a number.

I haven't seen one reply that directly answered your question.  Here is what
you want to type into your cell.  A3 would be your cell with the 12.5

=INT(A3)*14+(A3-INT(A3))*10
