Well if it absolutely will not run, you may be able to do so (as others have suggested) by downloading and installing MS's XP Mode. This includes setting up a virtual machine (one of the downloads), then setting up XP mode and installing your program "on it". You may need to be running Win 7 (8?) Pro or Ultimate--of this I'm not sure. Also, have you also adjusted the properties of the executable to specify the compatibility. (Right-click on the program in its folder and use the compatibility tab to choose a "configuration" that will allow it to run.
