Hi Joe,
I had a problem with my registry yesterday and I was wondering if there is
any way to restore it, once it is corrupted, other than in Windows. The
thing is: I renamed the "system.dat" file, and then windows told me there
was a registry error and was asking to boot in Safe Mode, so I booted in
Safe Mode. Then, I saw my Windows background picture and then I was asked
to click on a button which was saying something like: "Restore Windows
Registry". Then, another message box came out and was stating: "Shut Down
and Restore Registry". So I clicked on it, and it restarted my computer.
Then, it again asked to boot in safe mode, and so on... always having this
message box appearing and nothing else to do. I didn't know how to acces my
renamed "System.dat" file, since it is hidden in DOS mode, so I had to
reinstall. So, is there any other way to restore the registry "outside" of
Windows? Or if I re-install Windows and then "Import" a previously exported
Registry file, will it work if the only thing that changed on my HD is the
"Windows" dir?
Thank you very much,
Stephane Vaillancourt
