Gene,

In reply to your most recent post and questions:

Internat is a Windows system file. Depending on your PC's configuration,
it may or may not be needed. (Most PCs do not use this file.)

Explorer is needed.

em_exec -- This is not part of windows and I do not recognize it.
Someone else on the list may be able to advise you on this one.

RSRCMTR is the windows Resource Meter application.
It is not needed. You may close this.

SYSTRAY is needed.

WMEXE is a windows system file. It is part of the Windows
Media Player. It is safe to close this.

Have you checked your AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS
files? Many entries in these files are holdovers from the old DOS
and pre-PnP days. Windows no longer needs these files, but there
may be some older software that you have installed which does.

Also check your START UP folder within your START MENU.

Those are all areas to check, but to address your original problem....

The key to your problems is your original statement:
"...After a while (less then an hour I would say)
I can't run any other application because..."

That is a **CLASSIC** statement people make when there
are "memory leaks" (in simple terms -- programs reserve
ram for their use and then do not release the memory
when they finish with it)

I suggest you try these steps --- in this exact order.
1. SCANDISK
2. DEFRAG
3. REBOOT and see if the problem has gone away (probably not,
but it was worth a shot <grin>, so on to step 4)
4. Uninstall MS OFfice.
5. REBOOT
6. Use the Windows Explorer to delete the __entire__ MS Office folder
structure under C:\PROGRAM FILES (or wherever you installed it)
7. Exit the Windows Explorer.
8. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to open the task manager.
9. END TASK for everything except EXPLORER and SYSTEM TRAY (SYSTRAY).
10. Install MS Office again.
11. REBOOT the computer.

Good luck! And let us know how it turns out.
