I have had similar experience. Mine was because some files downloaded themselves (at least without my knowledge) and captured IE's toolbar. Took a lot of time to search out the files and delete them, edit the registry to delete them and change some of the advanced settings under Internet Options.

You can reload IE again to correct some of the proiblems. Look to see if you recognize subdirectories such as MySearch and similar. Will be under Program Files.

Good luck.

I have a puzzler and I don't know how it came about. While browsing with IE
tonight I realized my URL address bar is missing. I clicked on View, Tool
Bars, Address Bar and the address bar did not appear. What I did get is a
box labeled "Address" at the end of the row my Google tool bar is on (and
just after my "Links" link). It's not so much a box as just a label. Left
clicking on it does nothing and right clicking brings up the same choices as
View, Toolbars. I even tried rebooting and still nothing.

How can I "find" my address bar?
