Greetings John, Frederick, and list--

On the question of editing pre-recorded video . . .

Generally, I would add my whole-hearted endorsement to the
Pinnacle Micro products. My middle school students have no
trouble using this software to capture, edit, and create
video projects on VHS or as mpg videos. The newer version
(I guess) improves with its ability to burn to DVD. PCWorld
did a review of Studio 9 and found it to be buggy. The review
is at the following URL. (I was disappointed, as I had hoped
to upgrade to this version for my school, but with all the
accessibility and other hoops to jump through, the bugginess
is probably the "nail in the coffin" for my situation.)

If the URL is too long, highlight, copy, and paste it
in the browser address bar.
