The modem has two modes for providing the connection speed. It can give
you the DCE speed or the DTE speed. The 115.2k is your DTE speed and
says that your computer is communicating with the modem at that speed.
What most of us are interested in, however, is the line speed - the DCE
speed. To enable DCE speed display, your modem initiation string usually
needs to include a W2 command. On my system, for example, I needed to
set the modem "Advanced" tab "extra initialization commands" to be
AT&FW2 in order to get the proper display. My modem is a Diamond Supra.
