.Would like to choose what I want on my STARTUP but using the directions
below, I could not tell exactly what each program is. How can I get that
information and also those that I don't check for STARTUP, will I have to
open them when needed and HOW do I do that?
I am using HP and Outlook Express.
Thank you, ET

Subject: Re: [PCSOFT] icons mixed up

I thought that I would try Mozilla/firefox, so I installed it. Not long
after, the icons in the taskbar went?? The E, OE, desktop moved over next
to the
sound icon, I lost icons for Avast, Epson printer,Asus probe and BillP's
scotty. AND
the indicators for the web programs are now next to the START icon. I
uninstalled Mozilla, but it didn't show up in the recycle bin, and when I
click on
certain (mail) icons, Firefox can't find them! Can anyone suggest how to
solve this dilemma?? Any suggestion will be tried. Thank you, AL SMITH
---------------------------

Dont' know if this will help much.. but go to START then ALL PROGRAMS...
and
find the ones on your list there, and RIGHT click on it and click on either
SEND TO DESKTOP or CREATE Short cut. That will put an ICON on your desk
top.
Then drag it (keep holding down your left mouse button) on to you QUICK
LAUNCH. Make sure it's taking hold before you release it, too.

Now.. if you want some of these to be available when you start out....
Click
on START, go to RUN... type in MSCONFIG... then click on the STARTUP
tab....
and put a check mark by the ones you want to start up when your turn your
computer on. Personally, I only have my AntiVirus on my start up.... cause
the
more you have starting, the slower it makes your computer. (I have
Selective Start Up checked there instead of having all of them start so you
can [pick
the ones you want.) Or you can easily put what you want in the QUICK
LAUNCH.

Those that are next to your START are in your Quick Launch. those on the
right next to your clock are the ones where you have to put a check mark by
them in the tab STARTUP when you go to START, RUN, etc.... Do you have a
little
bar separating them from the ones on the right... on your task bar?
