It sounds to me like the mechanism for checking whether or
not the drive is write protected has broken. On 5.25 floppies
there was a little spring, but I am not sure how it works on
the smaller ones. Floppy drives are quite inexpensive and
easy to replace - cheaper than a technician. I doubt that
the head is faulty - then you would not be able to read the
files.

Alan - I cannot save to A Drive from any program. I can access the files on
the floppies. I receive a dialog box saying the disc is either 'Write
Protect' or 'Access Denied.'
I will have a computer technician check A Drive. It looks to me like the
