I'm not familiar with win 8 myself, but the last few versions have included tracking of software and creation of restore points which would enable you to 'roll back' the software to an earlier date when things were still working ok. Check this link out -
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/restore-refresh-reset-pc
If that doesn't solve the problem, you could try to delete and reinstall office 2013, or run a 'repair' of the software, if it has that option. see http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/repair-office-programs-HA010357402.aspx
.
Simple web searches will find other advice - try office 2013 repair, win 8 restore, etc.

Subject: [PCSOFT] Microsoft Office 2013 stopped working
I recently purchased and installed a new Epson scanner on my 64 bit Dell desktop running Windows 8-1.
The 2013 Microsoft Office S/W that had been working perfectly, stopped working, giving me "Microsoft Word (et.al.) have stopped working. We will investigate and tell you why, if we know."
I then tried to start office in the safe mode to see if I had added something with the Epson (even though it said it was 8-1 competitive on the box). It would not start. I then removed the scanner and all the scanner s/w I could find, but it still will not start.
Microsoft help doesn't seem to help.
Can you help me?
Thanks!
