Here's the instructions from the Norton site: (Note the instruction:"Uncheck
"Show Norton Protection Status" if possible." Yet another reason to avoid
Norton altogether.)
"Under Windows 2000/XP
Right-click Norton Protected Recycle Bin > Properties.
Click the Global tab.
Select "Use One Settings for All Drives."
Click the Recycle Bin tab.
Select "Standard Recycle Bin."
Change the text in the Title box to "Recycle Bin."
Uncheck "Show Norton Protection Status" if possible.
Select the Norton Protection tab.
Select a drive and uncheck Enable Protection. Repeat for each drive.
Under System Settings, click "Empty Protected Files".
Click "Purge Yours" or "Purge All".
Click OK.
Restart the computer.
Norton Protection has been removed from your system. To re-enable Norton
Protection, reverse the above procedure."
