From these two my preference is also Avast. It is
really more automated - I like that Avast could download
new virus databases multiple times a day. But my favorite
free personal AV is free-av (www.free-av.com) what can
detect more viruses that other free (or not free like Panda
or McAfee) AV programs. Personal experience.
Unfortunately manual updates. Another personal
experience make me distrust Norton - it is best to detect
viruses but it take week to when new virus what I
substituted them was added to database. (w32.Adurk)
