Using W98SE, IE5.50. I leftclick "Favorites", rightclick any list,
then leftclick "Sort by Name". The items rearrange alphabetically.
Does your's work the same?

If there are items which I use often and want near the top of list,
I put numbers 1,2, etc, in front of the name.
