To all of our wonderful subscribers,
Exactly a year ago, we decided upon some changes for
our mailing lists. We set the lists to 'full moderation.' This
affected these lists:
PCBUILD - PCSOFT - VPLANETS - PC-MS
In that time we have seen a great deal occur and some of it
was not for the better. In the last several weeks, Drew Dunn
and myself have been evaluating our operations. We have
decided that we did not like what we had become and where we
were going. In short, our efforts to bring high quality tech support
had become officious and bureaucratic. In order to keep Spam,
Flames, Files and other nonsense from reaching the mailing lists
we have made using our lists too difficult and slow.
After long debate we have decided on some changes and these
changes will take effect shortly after you receive this message.
1) We will return the mailing lists to unmoderated status
2) We are closing two mailing lists: PC-MS & VPLANETS
3) All list traffic will be now be routed to two mailing lists:
PCBUILD - Hardware
PCSOFT - Software
4) We will be enabling more web based features and providing
more services through our web site.
Our web site: http://nospin.com will be revamped over the coming
weeks to enable a great many additional services. Our moderators
will continue with us in a more expanded role as Staff Editors for
our web site. In the coming months we will not only have far more
available in the way of Download files, but we intend to bring you
additional features such as Hardware & Software reviews, product
recommendations, the latest in Tech News, FAQ: Frequently Asked
Questions from our years of archives and so much more.
In that time we hope to try to bring more camaraderie back to PCBUILD
and PCSOFT. We are going to make every effort to "warm" the place
back up and make it a fun place to discuss our favorite topic, computers.
If you currently are subscribed to PC-MS or VPLANETS, these lists
will be closed shortly. If you are not currently subscribed to PCBUILD
or PCSOFT you are welcome to do so now. Full instructions are
currently available at our web site, as well as Online Subscriptions.
Keep an eye on our web site during the next few weeks for our new
expanded services. I also want to reassure everyone that we will
continue to be a presence on PCBUILD and PCSOFT. We will not
condone abusing the lists with nasty remarks, Spam or other nonsense.
We want everyone to feel comfortable in using the lists... and no one
feeling apprehensive that they will be ridiculed for simplistic questions.
We are here to help... that has always been our #1 objective... and
best of all... we will always offer all of our services FREE OF CHARGE!!!
