Jack,

First of all a warning.  Changes in the Control Panel could cause your PC to
stop working.  Be sure of what you are changing before you start
experimenting in the Control Panel.

To delete files in the Explorer, first left-click one time on the file name
and then left click the big black X on the toolbar at the top of the
explorer.

If the toolbar is not visible, click on the word VIEW at the very top and
then click on the word TOOLBAR in that menu.
