I am in desperate straits. I am trying to recover some MSN mail files from my hard drive, with no success. Here's the story.
MSN lets you choose emails that you can then put in a "Folder on my computer". This is so that your mailbox does not overflow. When you view your inbox, it lists the "Folders on MSN" and then "Folders on My Computer." Some weeks back, the folders I had created "On My Computer" disappeared from the choices.
Now, it appears those folders are indeed still on my computer . . . they have suffixes MAILDB. But, I can't open them. I have contacted MSN and they had me try some different things (and I was impressed with the amount of time two people spent with me) but to no avail. I even sent it to myself as an email, but it wouldn't open. When I tried to open it, it just did nothing. I tried opening then in internet explorer but nothing happens there either.
I sent it via email to myself, both to an MSN address and Yahoo address, but file wouldn't open there, either. It's over 200KB, so it would seem something is there . . . just don't know what.
Does anybody have a clue how I can recover the emails in these files? They were important.
Please copy me offlist, as I am on digest.
