I bet you also have IE4.01 installed on the computer?
I had the same problem. Windows95 would not shut down after I installed
IE4.01. This is only a problem if you have network connections. Solution:
Disconnect all network connections before you should down. I did that for 2
days while I was waiting for Microsoft to fix this bug. MS didn't fix it,
so we wrote a WinBatch program to first disconnect all network connections
and then shut windows down.
