Gerry,
Can you detect any kind of pattern in the e-mail this occurs with?
I'm thinking that one or more of the Office files may be corrupted and a
reinstall may be in order. You indicated in your initial post you did not
have the program (CDs). If you have the product key and know someone who has
the discs, you could reinstall it. If that is not possible, you can go to
Microsoft Update to insure you have all available Office 2000 updates. If
you haven't configured the update site for Microsoft Updates, there will be
an option to do so on the Windows Update site.
Another option is to search for Office forums using your favorite search
engine. It's possible you may find someone there who posted the same problem
and had it solved. Here is a link to a Google search:

Hi Sven,
I am using Microsoft Office 2000 and using Outlook Express. Operating
System is Windows XP. I have this computer for three years and all of a
sudden this happens only with certain emails. Not all of them. I haven't
installed any new programs so I don't know what all happened.
