My elderly neighbor "inherited" a laptop which was discarded because it wouldn't work. I helped her get it running by getting rid of viruses and spyware. It is now running very well. Her family subscribes to AOL and uses AOL for email. I would like to set the laptop up so she can use AOL as her ISP when traveling. When I've used AOL, it seems like the computer is overburdened with a plethora of windows which slow it down. Is there a way to find AOL access numbers and use their email when traveling, with a minimum of AOL stuff installed?
I guess I'm looking for a minimal or barebones version of AOL. Or maybe an alternative way of finding a local access number and getting mail from their web site without all the ads and windows.
Could someone help with that? Thanks.
