An intermittent problem has become a constant problem with RealPlayer and
now has started with Windows Media Player:

When RealPlayer icon in tool tray is clicked (or opened from "Programs"),
Real player starts to load and after +/- 40 seconds, and +/- 90% loaded,
the following window appears:

“ Realplay: This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut
down.
If the problem persists, contact the program vendor
Details:
REALPLAY caused an invalid page fault in
module MSWSOSP.DLL at 015f:7b11195f.

Then the program freezes: In this instance, I ‘copied’ the above ‘detail’,
loaded “Word”, pasted above “Detail” and started typing this message. When I
then minimized Word, “Real” window was completely blank – a big white
rectangle covering most of my desktop. When I clicked its icon in tray,
nothing. When I hit Ctrl/Alt/Delete – nothing! Clicked them again – nothing!
(Normally the second time would shut down my PC)

I had uninstalled / reinstalled because RealPlayer had been locking up
occassionally after running for some time. Now its every time I try to load
it!

In an attempt to solve the problem on July 1, 2005 after full ScanDisk and
Defrag, I again uninstalled / reinstalled, per "Answer ID 4723" at Real
Customer Spport, a fresh install of Real player “Basic Player”. The problem
persisted.

I again contacted Real customer support and was told:
"I apologize that I have been unable to resolve this issue. Your case is
being escalated to our Level 2 e-mail team. You will receive a response as
soon as possible."

No response in 8 days. So I'm now appealing to you good folks at PCSoft for
help!

The problem with Win Media Player now, very occasionally, produces the same
window, same DLL file, 11 (of 16) same "Registers". I think this may be
part of windows - so I hesitate to delete the file.

I have a Dell Pentium II 455 mhz, 320 MB RAM, 4 GB open of 8GB HD, Win 98

Any suggestions? Contact me here or direct. Thanks in advance.
